One of my favorite parts about being a writer is visiting schools. Last week, I had the opportunity to participate in Northside Elementary’s Literacy Day where I met talented future writers and illustrators.
I’ll be posting future artwork, shows and classes on my Kathleen Fox Art Facebook Page.
I’m excited to be working with Engaging Creative Minds again this year. If you are a lowcountry educator, check out their site for resources and cost-free opportunities to bring artists into your schools.
Working on my new dog series. This is how the painting process begins: prime a canvas with whatever color I have a lot of, sketch out the dog in chalk, outline the dog in black then stare at it for a day until I figure out what colors I want to work with. Stay tuned. I like where this fun little guy is going, so expect to see a lot more of him popping up in my paintings this fall. –Kathleen Fox
My lovely friend Diane sent me this poem. It’s a wonderful reminder of how to look at the world. Here’s to all the people who get it- may we always see the art in everything! #kathleenfoxwrites
My husband and I spent part of our summer out in the Pacific Northwest. While in Seattle, we ventured into The Experience Music Project Museum. Here’s one of my favorite hands-on activities where kids design clothing from paper. Paper, tape, scissors and imagination.
One of my favorite things about being a writer and a visual artist is working with students. I had an entertaining time with fourth graders at Sanders Clyde Creative Arts (A Jonathan Green school). We explored different styles of writing through games, activities and of course– some dancing! Every writer should do a happy dance when they get the words just right! Kathleen Fox Art. LibraryGames.
